I arrived back in Thailand last Thursday, missing the Icelandic volcanic ash aerial shutdown by a day or two. After a low-key holiday in the UK I spent the weekend wandering my locality in Bangkok with the Olympus EP-2 around Phan Fa, where I currently live.
The swarm of red-shirt protestors who made headlines around the world last week for the wrong reasons, have consolidated their protest in one area and moved away from Phan Fa. Unfortunately, this one area is still on my route to work! I must pass by the new site to reach the skytrain. It seems I am destined to witness the whole demonstration from beginning to end.

Exploring on foot is an intimate affair. Details you’d never see from a boat, car or bike begin to fill your viewfinder like an artists scrapbook. The walkway along the Khlong San Saeb – the same canal that I travel along to work is home to many people. I’ve always been made to feel welcome, bar the odd nervous canine along the way.
