Radjadamnoen Klang Road – lit up for the King’s Birthday.

Radjadamnoen Klang road, Bangkok’s Champs Elysees, links the spectacular Grand Palace to the Royal Palaces in Dusit Garden.

It was built in 1899 during the reign of King Rama V, and today, as every year on the anniversary of the birthday of King Bhumibol on December 5th, royal motorcades between the royal palace and the old city transport the now 85-year-old King Bhumibol (Rama VIII) to receive the well wishes of thousands upon thousands of yellow-clad admirers.

Spectacularly lit up along its kilometre length for the King, to farang, Christmas is keenly felt as the December celebration times nicely with the western calendar.
