Working in Thailand with the OLYMPUS E-P2 and E-3 (E-System).

Phan Fa Leela bridge at dawn. I catch boat from here.

Image 1 specs:Olympus E-P2, f9, 1/100, ISO125, 16 (32mm), white balance shifted to shade, vivid mode, hand-held (image stabliser IS1 set). Original file from camera (no retouching).

QUICK FACTS: An early rise is the best way to let the light spoil you for choice. This is the bridge I visit every day to catch the longtail boat. The sun was right behind the trees and made this murky corner of Bangkok seem so idyllic. That’s what I like about this pic and photography in general. Light reveals many sides to life. I wanted to capture the sparkle and peace before the rush hour and made a feature of the tree, adding nature to an otherwise urban scene. I preferred the light effect of the shade white balance option, slightly lowering the light value (kelvin – from auto to shade) to create a warmer feel.

I’m currently working in Bangkok, Thailand for UNESCO. Daily life here is frantic. Up at 6am, I travel by longtail boat along the Khlongs (canal) passing dilapidated buildings, under extremely low bridges (the roof of the boat collapses to allow the boat to pass under it). I then transfer to a skytrain, a further six stops to my destination of Thong Lor. The journey to and from work is a great opportunity to take photographs.

The Olympus E-P2 is the size of a compact camera with the performance and functionality of a pro model. I am using two interchangeable micro-four thirds lenses: a. 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 Standard Wide Zoom (M.Zuiko) b. 17mm f2.8 Wide angle lens (M.Zuiko)

A perfect setup for light, high quality photographs.

Additionally, the HD movie (HD720p) option can be used with the art filters for fantastic variation in theme and expression. I love the sense that this camera walks and talks your travels.
