This little sun skink (Mabuya multifasciata) lives in the tiny tropical garden attached to my room on a recent weekend excursion to Kanchanaburi, Thailand.
Pictures of scaly animals seem to suffer in the popularity stakes (especially here in Thailand I’ve noticed) as opposed to fluffy koalas, possums and kangaroos, so over the last two weeks I’ve redressed the balance a little posting my fondness for mudskippers and dragonflies (see link below) and now, my skink. I’m a great fan of macro photography even if it is only at a modest 1:1 life size.

I posted a couple to show the variation in compositions that the tame skink allowed me. I’ve used the EC x2 teleconverter on my Zuiko f2 50mm macro lens and 12-60mm f2.8 telephoto lens, doubling their effective focal length (100mm and 240mm respectively) so I can keep some distance from him.
